Proverbs 1:2-5 The Proverbs are a book of wise sayings put together for the purpose of training children to become wise adults and to enable them to make wise decisions as young adults so as not to destroy their lives before they are started. Most horrendous decisions in life start when people are young and they pay for them for the rest of their lives. Financial decisions, bad friends, bad relationships add up to a life of despair and frustration. The Proverbs give instruction and wisdom, that if followed will cause your life to be abundant, prosperous and your relationships to be wonderful and true. In these verses, Solomon, the son of David (considered by God to be the wisest man to walk the earth) was teaching of the importance of receiving instruction and wisdom. This tells me that anyone, regardless of how smart they think they are, has the ability to receive wisdom and knowledge that can lift their life to a higher level. As verse 5 states, a wise man will hear and increase learning. As we begin to move into this discovery of Wisdom throughout the Proverbs, I am going to create a prayer for each of the scriptures so that you may pray them that week. Prayer for Proverbs 1:2-5 Father in Heaven, Elohim, I pray according to Your word in Proverbs, Chapter 1 that you would give to me wisdom and instruction to perceive the words of understanding that I might receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, judgment and equity. Lord, I ask you for knowledge and discretion. I pray Father that you let me increase in learning and obtain unto wise counsels. I ask these things in Jesus’ name and I give you praise for them in advance. Amen |
